One of the flagship programs of ProWoc is our mentoring program which has been running since 2020. Last week we were thrilled to hold a ProWoc Mentoring Touchpoint Workshop facilitated by ProWoc member and Leadership Development Coach, Beth Jenson, MA, PCC
🌟 Through hands-on activities and networking, mentors and mentees, as well as those interested in mentoring, found new energy and direction for their relationships.
🎯 Here are some of the takeaways:
Mentoring is a Two-Way Exchange:
It’s not a top-down transfer of knowledge but a mutual learning process where both mentor and mentee bring valuable insight.
Redefining Expertise:
The “knowledge bearer” isn’t defined by age or years of experience but by the relevance and depth of their understanding in a given area.
Mutual Growth Mindset:
Curiosity, openness, and humility are essential to creating meaningful mentoring relationships.
🎯 We also learnt about the power of Purpose of Reflection to build clarity, perspective, and self-awareness using mentorship as both a source of shared learning and a mirror for personal growth.
One helpful exercise for reflection is the “Coffee with Your Future Self” Exercise:
It is a reflective activity inviting participants to imagine a conversation with themselves 10 years from now, asking:
– What are you most proud of?
– What do you regret?
– What does thriving look like for you?
