Representation matters and is transformational.
Research consistently shows that when women support and mentor others, they accelerate their own growth as well. Lifting others creates a ripple effect of opportunity that extends far beyond a single conversation.
• In many organisations, employees who participate in mentoring programs are 𝟱× 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 likely to be promoted than those who don’t.
• Mentors themselves are often rewarded and they are reported to be 𝟲× 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 likely to be promoted than non-mentors.
• Furthermore, around 𝟲𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 who serve as sponsors are satisfied with their career advancement and experience that mentoring also boosts their own leadership competencies, confidence, visibility, and opportunities.
🚀 At ProWoc, we recognize this ripple effect. Our Mentoring Programs and Networking Opportunities have connected our members and helped them gain visibility, access to opportunities, and fueled real career progress.
🤝🏽 Sponsorship and everyday advocacy, whether formal or informal, not only lifts individuals – They lift entire communities.
Lifting others can include small gestures like:
• Offering guidance
• Making an introduction
• Amplifying someone’s work when they are not in the room
• Reminding someone of their strengths when they forget
• Celebrating other’s achievements, even when they hesitate to
✨ When you champion others, you strengthen your own leadership. You become a multiplier, or someone whose success elevates entire communities.
💡 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: In the coming months, recommend someone in your network for an opportunity. Tell them why you believe in them. Offer to mentor, advocate, introduce, or sponsor. You could change their career trajectory and strengthen your own leadership in the process.
🚀 Together, we can reach new heights
