A Celebration of talent with Maersk

Did you know that December 3rd is International Day of Persons with Disabilities?

This year, Maersk is dedicating a week to shine the spotlight on and celebrate the achievements of all diversely abled colleagues with a celebration themed, Everyone has a talent!

The week is being organized by the Maersk Diverse Abilities Employee Resource Network who are absolutely thrilled to be hosting this fireside chat in proud collaboration with ProWoc.

Join us on December 6th for a collaborative event between ProWoc and Maersk where we explore and amplify the stories of two women who have achieved phenomenal successes despite facing what most would deem barriers. Abimbola Nicole Olayiwola and Dr. Sisanda Msekele will be joined by Nyeleti Sue-Angel Nkuna who will moderate the session, exploring their remarkable life journeys in a relaxed yet insightful setting.

This collaboration aims to facilitate meaningful connections between individuals from different backgrounds and in this way lay the foundation for ongoing future community building in this space, and beyond. You will leave informed, educated, and most of all inspired through the power of storytelling!

The event will be hosted by Maersk and is free for all ProWoc members who wish to attend. There are limited seats available so register now!

Registration closes at midnight 4 December 2023.

Secure your spot now for an exciting and inspirational evening.

About our speakers

Abimbola Nicole Olayiwola

Abimbola was born in Lagos, Nigeria in 1981. She grew up in Lagos, where her father was a Civil Engineer, and her mother was a Caterer. She is the second born of a family of 12.
At the age of 2, Abimbola contracted Polio Virus, which caused partial paralysis in her right leg.
However, she went ahead with life, excelling in her education pursuits, and in 2008, she became a Chartered accountant and a university degree owner in the same year.

In 2015 She obtained her Master’s degree in Business Administration from Hult International Business School in Dubai. She is undergoing her Doctoral Program in Strategic Management at the University Of Business Innovation Switzerland.

Abimbola is, until recently, a part of the Global Sales Compensation team in Maersk. Her experience includes Banking, International trade, logistics, and TV Presentation. In 2022, the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen appointed her as part of the Copenhagen Citizenship Parliament.

She is married to Ade, and they both live in Copenhagen since 2019.

Dr. Sisanda Msekele

Dr. Msekele has extensive experience in DEI strategy, merging anthropological insights with cutting-edge methodologies to drive genuine, sustainable change in corporate landscapes. With over a decade of experience consulting for financial, health and legal sectors in South Africa and a PhD in anthropology, Dr. Msekele’s insights are grounded in a profound understanding of diverse organisational cultures and needs.

Utilising data-driven approaches, Dr. Msekele aims to close the inclusion gap by putting historically marginalised groups as well as cross-sectorial partnerships and accountability on the private, public, and social-sector leadership agenda. She is especially curious about how companies can expand opportunities for all abilities, while enhancing their innovation potential.

She is a former Paralympic athlete for South Africa’s national rowing team and is currently based in Copenhagen, where she continues to enjoy adaptive sports and newly discovered winter swimming.
