SUMMARY:Pressure & Sugar: Understanding the Silent Killers
DESCRIPTION:Registration has ended. \nPreventing & Living Well with Diabetes and Hypertension\nOn Friday 20th March\, Brotherhood for Professionals of Color (BPoC)\, in collaboration with IDA\, invites you to an important and timely conversation about two of the most prevalent chronic conditions affecting communities of color worldwide: diabetes and high blood pressure. \nThese conditions are often called “silent killers.” They can develop gradually\, without obvious symptoms\, while quietly increasing the risk of heart attacks\, strokes\, kidney disease\, and other serious complications. And for many men of color\, health conversations are often delayed or avoided altogether\, even though our physical and mental wellbeing directly shape our careers\, our families\, and our futures. \nIn this powerful double session\, medical experts and community voices come together to: \n\nBreak down what diabetes and hypertension are\nDiscuss why early detection is vital — especially for people of color\nShare tips for prevention and lifestyle changes that really work\nExplore how to live well with a diagnosis\, and how to support loved ones\n\nThis event is about changing that narrative. \nWe are creating an open\, accessible\, and empowering space where professionals can learn\, ask questions\, and gain practical tools for prevention\, early detection\, and healthier living. It is not just about medical facts. It is about awareness\, responsibility\, and community support. \nWhat to Expect\nOur expert speaker from the World Diabetes Foundation will deliver a 40-minute evidence-based presentation\, followed by a 20-minute Q&A session. \nThe session will: \nProvide practical\, research-based insights on diabetes prevention and management\nExplore global health disparities and why communities of color are disproportionately affected\nHighlight the World Diabetes Foundation’s current initiatives\, opportunities\, and community-focused programs \nThis is an opportunity to understand the bigger picture and to leave with actionable knowledge you can apply in your daily life. \nAnd after the formal session\, we will continue the conversation over food and networking. BPoC always provides a safe space where we can speak openly about men’s health and mental resilience. \n🗓️March 20\, 2026\n🕛16:00 – 19:00\n📍IDA Conference\, Kalvebod Brygge 31\, 1560 København\, Denmark\n👛FREE for DKK BPoC & ProWoc members | 100 DKK for non-members\n✍🏽Last day to register: 16 March
